An evening of creativity, calm and encounter: by candlelight you learn the basics of the Thuluth script.
About the workshop
In this four-hour workshop you learn the basics of Arabic calligraphy in the Thuluth style. Step by step you practise the individual letters, their forms and connections, working your way from the first strokes to your own calligraphic sentence.
All materials are provided – including a traditional qalam (calligraphy pen) and your own calligraphy booklet, in which you record the exercises during the workshop and can keep practising afterwards.
But this evening is more than just a calligraphy class: by candlelight and in a lovely atmosphere you can meet new people, try out your creativity and consciously take a break from everyday life.
Your well-being is taken care of too: food and drinks are included in the workshop.
No previous experience needed – just curiosity and the joy of discovering something new.

How it unfolds
In four stages

Stage 1
A centuries-old art
To begin, you step into the world of Arabic calligraphy – an art form preserved and passed down through generations.

Stage 2
Qalam, ink, first stroke
With a traditional qalam you make your first strokes and learn the basics of the Thuluth style.

Forms and connections
Step by step you practise the individual letters, their forms and how they join together.

Stage 4
Your own sentence
From the first strokes you work your way to your own calligraphic sentence – kept in your booklet.

Every piece is designed and painted or engraved by hand in Vienna. Small irregularities are traces of handwork and make each piece unique.
Shipping & returns
Every piece is carefully packed to arrive safely and shipped from Vienna, within Austria and across the EU. Collection pieces carry the statutory right of withdrawal; commissions are excluded.

Clean with a soft, dry cloth. Not dishwasher safe; keep away from long direct sunlight.
